Public Works Dept.:

Diamond Drive near the Golf Course
The contractor is continuing to conduct soils boring operations alongside Diamond Drive at the Golf Course. No traffic impediments expected.

Lane Closure on Sherwood Boulevard
Motorists can expect a lane closure and flagging operations on Sherwood Boulevard because of work on the Pinon Park Splash Pad project. The contractor will be working on a water line tie-in, weather and scheduling dependent.

Pedestrian and ADA Accessibility Along Trinity Drive from Oppenheimer to 39th Street
GM Emulsions continues construction along Trinity Drive from Oppenheimer to 39th Street, to provide better accessibility by replacing curb and gutter as well as installing ADA compliant sidewalks. To perform this work safely, traffic along Trinity will be shifted around the work zone. Traffic control will include temporary shoulder closures and bicycle and pedestrian detours.

Traffic & Streets Division:

North Side of Trinity Drive – Sidewalk Replacements between Oppenheimer & Diamond
Over the next two months, sidewalks on the north side may be closed as County crews will be replacing sections of sidewalk from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday – Friday.

Kristi Lane– Asphalt Patching and Sidewalk repair
County crews will be working August 26 – 28 from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Flagging operations will be in place.

Tewa Loop – Curb, Gutter, Sidewalk repairs
County crews will be working Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sidewalk closures will be in place.

Dept. of Public Utilities:

Quemazon at Esperanza – Asphalt Repair
Work continues this week; crews will be replacing a section of asphalt on Esperanza starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. daily. A flagging operation will be in place

Trinity Drive at 15th Street Intersection – Utilities’ work
ABI Mechanical, under contract with Natural Grocers, will tie the new grocery store into the county’s water, natural gas and sewer systems on Trinity Drive and 15th Street beginning Monday, Aug. 24 and will continue through Tuesday, Sep. 8.  Crews will be working in the road on Trinity at the 15th Street intersection between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Various lane drops will occur at different times and affect traffic in the area.  The speed limits will be reduced to 25 miles per hour and orange barrels will demark the moving construction zone.

 Other projects:

NM502 Roundabout Construction & Road work (State DOT, Star Paving)
No change from last week. NM 502 is now partially re-opened to through traffic. There is one lane open in each direction from Tewa Loop to DP Road. Access to local streets from Tewa Loop  to Arroyo Lane will still be provided.

Access to Central Avenue and 4th Street from NM 502 will be closed for the next 5 weeks for construction of the roundabout. Central Avenue and 4th Street can still be accessed via Knecht Street.

DP Rd (Work related to Canyon Walk Apartments and The Bluffs)

Qualcon Builders, LLC – 120 DP Road Utility Infrastructure ReplacementWork continues to be delayed. No work is expected the week of August 24. Once the Contractor has a final work schedule, the traffic control plan remains the same as previously announced:

Portions of DP Road will be temporarily detoured or restricted to flagged/signaled to one-lane traffic for approximately an 8-week duration. One-lane traffic restrictions will occur only during business hours from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm daily. The portions of DP Road affected are between the edge of the 6th Street intersection with DP Road east to Fire Station #2 (132 DP Road). Contractor will be working in the right-of-way to replace existing utilities with upgraded services related to the new Canyon Walk Apartments (under construction) and The Bluffs senior housing (soon to be constructed). Milling and paving operations followed by a detour shift to the north side of DP Road can be expected with either electronic flagging or one-way access with flagger in place during the two month project. Parcel A-8-b Trench Work – south of Canyon Walk Apartments
Work is expected to wrap up next week as N3B contractors finish excavating a utility trench within the A-8-b land parcel that will be used to place utilities along DP Road to support the two housing projects. No traffic impacts directly affecting DP Road but motorists should watch for trucks and other construction traffic entering and exiting the parcel on the south side of DP Road throughout the work day Monday through Friday.

Vehicles and pedestrian traffic are urged to follow all traffic control devices and maintain a safe distance from the work zones listed above.
