COUNTY NEWS
The library system has been hard at work planning for curbside pickup of materials with a launch date still to be determined. Due dates for all currently checked out items have been extended until June 30. Patrons can help library staff prepare to launch the pickup service by returning unwanted library items in the drive-through drops at both Mesa Public Library and White Rock Branch Library. Returned items are quarantined for 72 hours and will stay checked out on patron accounts during that time. Staff will override checkout and overdue limits when curbside pickup begins.
Patrons will start seeing activity on their accounts, for example, holds may appear as available as we prepare for curbside service. Patrons should consider if they have books on hold that are no longer needed and remove any holds for unwanted items. Patrons will be notified when curbside goes “live” and items are ready for pickup. Curbside service will be limited to ten items per patron, so patrons may also wish to prioritize their holds by suspending those that are not currently needed. Patrons can manage their online accounts by logging in at losalamoslibrary.org and entering their library card barcode and PIN, by calling 505-662-8250 M-F 10-5, or emailing libweb@lacnm.us for assistance from staff. Visit Tips and Tricks for more information on using the My Account features from the library catalog.
Following state health orders and County guidance, Mesa Public Library and White Rock Branch Library began the Preparation Phase of reopening in early May. As of May 16, most of the state is in Phase One, which keeps the Stay at Home order in place while allowing for some additional business openings. The library, along with other County services, is preparing deliberately and carefully for the reopening of facilities to ensure both the safety of the community and staff. For future updates on re-opening county facilities please see the County website.
