When Jemez Mountains Motorcycle Group president Richard Sturgeon invited his friends to saddle up Saturday for a 240-mile loop through Pojoaque, Mora, Angel Fire, Taos and Dixon, he expected about a dozen to show up. Instead some 36 motorcyclists took part and donated more than $1,600 to help pay for multiple surgeries needed for Wyatt Taylor of Jemez Springs. Taylor was seriously injured in an accident in 2017 and the JRMG has been raising funds for his family. Sturgeon is asking motorcyclists to mark their calendars for August for another benefit ride for Taylor. ‘Bikers do not get the credit they deserve for being some of the most kind-hearted folks on the planet,’ Sturgeon said.
