The Best Choice – Valerie Plame

Letter To The Editor_Pongratz Endorses Chris Chandler For House District 43 Seat (11)

We wholeheartedly support Valerie Plame to represent us in CD3. Our votes are for a woman who has given her time freely to non-profits both locally and nationally for nearly two decades. She has served as a pro-bono guest speaker, board member or volunteer with multiple family oriented non-profits since her arrival in Santa Fe nearly a decade and a half ago.

She has a BA from Penn State University, as well as an MSc from the London School of Economics and The College of Europe in Bruges. Valerie’s educational and global experience means that a vote for her is a vote for a person with international knowledge and expertise as well as contacts all over the US and world that will allow her to bring resources back home to New Mexico in a manner that no other candidate in this race can.

Valerie’s background is not one of privilege – she was raised in a family dedicated to public service. Her father was an Air Force officer and her mother a public school teacher. Her brother served our country as a marine who was wounded in Vietnam. She is a woman who risked her life to serve our country as a covert operations officer in the CIA, fighting to keep rogue nations from obtaining nuclear weapons. Her expertise in nuclear counter-proliferation brought her to New Mexico over two decades ago to work intimately with scientists at LANL to intervene in and solve complex problems throughout the world on our behalf.

Valerie, one of the first people to enter this race, has worked tirelessly running for Congress by visiting every county in our enormous district listening and learning from her constituency. Voting for Valerie is a vote not only for a person who will help New Mexico grow and improve economically, educationally and environmentally, it is also a vote for a person who will be a driving force in moving our whole country forward at a time when we so desperately need it.

Being a Congresswoman is about more than knowing New Mexico, it is about legislating on issues important to New Mexicans and all Americans such as health care, unemployment, immigration, education, building infrastructure, international aid, etc. Valerie Plame has every qualification to be our next Congresswoman…. grace, intelligence, knowledge and experience.
