LOS ALAMOS MAINSTREET NEWS
The Los Alamos Farmers Market, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020, will kick off the summer market season at a new location and also feature an additional Saturday market throughout the summer. New Thursday markets will take place at Ashley Pond Park near Central Avenue from 7:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. from May-October, and Saturday markets will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Judicial Parking Lot and run June through September.
In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, extra precautions will be implemented in accordance with the state and New Mexico Farmers Market Association. This includes proper distancing between booths, food pre-bagged for pickup, masks and gloves for all food handling, and other measures that minimize touchpoints. Additionally, the Los Alamos Farmers Market will be providing locally made hand sanitizer to each booth, and an electric handwashing station will be available to the public. The public is also encouraged to wear masks when visiting the market.
The May 7 market will feature produce, locally sourced beef, pork, lamb, yak, eggs, a hand sanitizer vendor and much more.
As one of the oldest farmers markets in New Mexico, the Los Alamos Farmers Market was started in 1970 and is a great place to buy local foods and other goods and to support regional growers and producers.
