Los Alamos County Emergency Manager Thanks Face Coverings Donors

County encourages residents to log hours for later request to FEMA against 25% match due to COVID-19

Emergency Manager Beverley Simpson thanked residents who have donated their time and talent to sewing face coverings for County employees over the last two weeks.

“After we put out the call to local sewing groups, and with the help of local news media promotions, we received over 700 face coverings that were successfully distributed last week to all of our County employees,” Simpson said, “We are greatly appreciative of these efforts, including the handiwork of some of our own County employees who pitched in to help with sewing the coverings while at home.”

Simpson also thanked local store Atomic City Quilts for working with the Procurement Office to get the County yards of material for purchase toward the effort, and local Facebook group Los Alamos Mask Donations which has sewing volunteers donating their time.

Simpson reminded volunteers donating time and services for anything related to the COVID-19 pandemic to log their hours and efforts using a form available on the County’s COVID-19 website:

Samples of eligible items include spending time helping to deliver meals to vulnerable seniors or making face masks for the community and County first responders.
