COUNTY NEWS
In response to Los Alamos County’s direction to reduce personnel to curtail the spread of COVID-19, the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will have limited staff effective Wednesday, Mar. 18. Department officials state, however, that DPU will continue to provide essential services – electricity, natural gas, water and wastewater services – to the Los Alamos and White Rock communities.
Customer Care representatives are available only by phone 505.662.8333 or email CustomerCare@lacnm.us Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to verify account information or utility bills. Utility bill payments can be:
- Made online at https://ladpu.com/paymentus
- Made over the phone at 1-866-417-0694 or 505-662-8333
- Mailed to DPU at P.O. Box 99, Los Alamos, NM 87544 or
- Left in the dropbox in the Municipal Building parking lot. If a receipt is required, customers are directed to write an email address on the envelope. Staff will email a receipt. Officials also strongly discourage cash payments.
Information on financial assistance programs to aid qualifying customers with utility bill payments, are on the department’s webpage: https://ladpu.com/PaymentOptions.
Customers are reminded to report utility emergencies, such as power or water outages, suspected natural gas leaks or sewer backups, by calling the Customer Care Center at 505.662.8333 during business hours and to call police dispatch at 505.662.8222 after hours.
“We thank our customers for cooperating with us as we try to protect our employees and the public health,” stated Utilities Manager Philo Shelton.
