COUNTY NEWS

Los Alamos County Manager Harry Burgess sent a letter today to contractors who operate a variety of County facilities on behalf of the County, assuring them that they could continue to receive monthly compensation in the face of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Burgess sent the letter to the Executive Directors of the Los Alamos History Museum, Pajarito Environmental Education Center (which manages the Nature Center), the Fuller Lodge Arts Center and the Arts Council.

The Executive Directors had expressed concerns to the County about financial impacts, should the County cease to pay them monthly compensation because of the circumstances surrounding COVID-19.

Burgess said that appreciated the directors’ concerns, and is asking for assistance and ideas for alternate delivery of services if operating hours must be reduced at the facilities in the coming weeks. Burgess said that services may be altered in some fashion, but that the County stands ready to work with the directors in partnership, to provide community services in a healthy and safe manner, and keep the monthly compensation intact.

Updates on other County services and facilities will be shared with the public via news media and on the County’s COVID-19 webpage. Visit www.losalamosnm.us and click on the COVID-19 Updates icon in the middle of the home page.
