LOS ALAMOS HISTORICAL SOCIETY NEWS
Registration is open now for spring sessions of Time Travelers, the after-school drop-off program for elementary school students from the Los Alamos Historical Society. Time Travelers sets students on an adventure of exploration, investigating our local history through artifacts in the Los Alamos History Museum and hands-on activities.
Time Travelers will meet in February, March, April, and May. Sessions for 1st-3rd grade students meet second Wednesdays, and sessions for 4th–6th grade students meet third Wednesdays. Sessions meet in Fuller Lodge from 1:15–3 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Registration for each session is limited to 10 students. A donation of $5 per session is suggested. Details and registration information are available at www.losalamoshistory.org/childrens_programs.
In February, students will go back in time and explore what life was like at the Los Alamos Ranch School. We’ll get ready for spring in March, planting seedlings and learning about the history of farming and gardening on the Pajarito Plateau. In April, we will study the Cerro Grande Fire and learn how to practice resilience in our own lives. May will give students the special opportunity for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Historical Society Archives.
