BANDELIER NEWS

Veterans Day is a time to honor all those who have served in our nation’s military. To commemorate, Bandelier and other National Park areas all over the country that regularly charge entrance fees, will be fee free on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11.

As usual on fee free days, the Western National Parks Association ( WNPA) will be offering a 15% discount on everything at the park store in the Bandelier Visitor Center in Frijoles Canyon on Monday as well.

Honoring of veterans is particularly appropriate in Bandelier, which was the location of a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp from 1934-1941.  According to Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott, “The young men who served In the CCC went on to be the backbone of the United States’ military during World War II, and were an essential element in the Allies’ eventual victory.  In addition, hundreds of Pueblo men, descended from the ancestral inhabitants of the area, have served valiantly in all branches of the armed services.”  Thank you to all our veterans!
