Concerned Citizens for Nuclear Safety (CCNS) held an event Monday in Los Alamos to count out $13 billion in 13,000 mock bills of $1 million dollars face value which they say is roughly the amount of money proposed for investment over the next 10 years for expanded plutonium pit production at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Pictured are, from left, Janet Greenwald, Suzie Schwartz, Sandy Schwartz, Kay Mathews and Joni Arends. The Los Alamos event was the last of four events – the other three were held in Taos, Santa Fe and Socorro. The events coincided with the United Nations Disarmament Week as well as the international Count the Nuclear Weapons Money action centered in New York. Photo by Maire O’Neill/losalamosreporter.com
