The Regional Coalition of LANL Communities board is slated to meeting at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 in the Espanola City Council Chambers, 405 N. Paseo De Onate in Espanola.

A light agenda includes approval of an invoice for some $14,000 for Chicanos Por La Causa for executive director services for the month of August and an invoice for Kubiak Melton & Associates for auditing services for fiscal years 2013-2018.

Also on the agenda is review and possible action on a proposal for a legal counsel services and an executive director’s report. There is no information as to how many attorneys submitted proposals to provide legal services or what firm was chosen.

None of the items on the agenda have backup material on the RCLC website.

The audits have been completed by Kubiak Melton & Associates and a closed meeting was held Aug. 16 in Taos with four RCLC board members to review the audits.

The audits were also reviewed Aug. 26 by Taos Town Council members and RCLC executive director Eric Vasquez but have not been released to the public. Taos Town Council also discussed the revised RCLC joint powers agreement Aug. 27 and agreed to table a vote on the JPA until the audits reports have been released and public comment has been allowed.

At the board’s Aug. 16 meeting, Vasquez said the RCLC was just waiting for final comments on the audits and that they would then be formally submitted to the Office of the State Auditor. He said once the State Auditor signs off, the RCLC will be able to publicly release the documents.

In an email last month, Vasquez told the Los Alamos Reporter that details of the audits could not be released by the RCLC or Kubiak Melton until the reports have been released by the OSA and become public record.
