BANDELIER NEWS

During the month of September, all paved roads in the main visitor use area at Bandelier will be re-surfaced, repaired and sealed. This includes not only Entrance Road, but parking lots, pull outs and Juniper Campground as well. Various areas will be closed intermittently to accommodate the work being done, heavy equipment and the construction workers.

Vehicle traffic on the road into Frijoles Canyon will be reduced to one lane at times. Bandelier Superintendent Jason Lott added, “We certainly appreciate everyone’s patience while we manage this road preservation project. Safety is our priority. Speed limits will be reduced and up to 20 minute delays can be expected on the drive down into Frijoles Canyon.”  The road surfaces in the park were re-surfaced nine years ago in 2010.

Shuttle season at Bandelier continues through October 16th. Visitors are reminded that the free shuttle bus is required for anyone arriving to the park between 9 AM and 3 PM.  You can catch the shuttle bus at the White Rock Visitor Center.   For more details or other information about Bandelier National Monument, contact the Bandelier Visitor Center at 505-672-3861 x 517 or visit www.nps.gov/band, on Facebook, BandelierNP
