Abiquiu Lake: Joseph Holguin of Silver City caught a 22-inch walleye using a drop shot with a senko worm rigged wacky style on July 28.

Conchas Lake: Christian Geyer of Edgewood caught a walleye measuring 24-inches and 4.75-pounds while trolling 3-colors of lead-core line using a red worm rig on July 28.

Eagle Nest Lake: Jon Gonzales of Santa Fe caught a 28-inch northern pike trolling a chrome and blue Rattlin Rap on July 28.

Elephant Butte Lake: Armando Pena, age 12, of Rio Rancho caught his first fish, a 20-pound, 34-inch blue catfish using cut carp on July 27.

Lake Maloya: Nick Mendoza of Santa Fe caught nine rainbow trout fly fishing with a brown King Prince bead head nymph. The largest rainbow trout measured 21.5-inches and weighed 3-pounds, 5-ounces. He was fishing on July 23.

Pecos River: Aiden Showers, age 7, of Albuquerque caught 6 trout using red worms in the Pecos River near Cowles Ponds on July 24.

Red River: Thomas Encinias of Albuquerque caught a 20-inch, 3.5-pound rainbow trout using salmon eggs and fishing near the town of Red River on July 26.

Rio Cebolla: Matthew Martinez, age 4, of Los Lunas caught his first fish, a brown trout, using worms fishing the Rio Cebolla below Fenton Lake on July 26.

San Juan River: Chris Griego of Albuquerque caught and released a 25-inch 5-pound brown trout while fishing the Texas Hole using a red San Juan worm on July 28.

Seven Springs Hatchery: Brian Salaz Jr., age 10, of Albuquerque caught a 26-inch 5-pound 3-ounce rainbow trout using PowerBait on July 27.

Tingley Beach: Kiera O’Guin, age 6, of Albuquerque caught and released an albino catfish using worms in the children’s pond on July 23.

Ute Lake: Ricky Bryant of Amarillo caught a 4-pound largemouth bass using a Whopper Plopper on July 26.

The following reports came in late, but are definitely worth mentioning:

Eagle Nest Lake: Xavier Armijo, age13, of Springer caught his first Northern pike while trolling. It measured 36-inches and 19-pounds. He caught it on July 21.

Grindstone Reservoir: Eric Caraveo Jr, age 3, of El Paso caught his first three fish, rainbow trout, using PowerBait and fishing with his dad on a kayak July 22.

Navajo Lake: Zach Sletten of Albuquerque caught an approximately 20-inch brown trout using a walleye pattern Rapala crankbait on July 22. Matt Gladstone of Taos caught a couple of nice smallmouth bass, one weighing 4-pounds, while fishing white buzz baits on main lake points on July 16 and 17.

San Juan River: Adam Escamilla of Gallup caught a 20-inch rainbow trout fishing the upper flats using a rootbeer fly on July 22.

Charette Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron on Monday morning was 38.1 cfs. Fishing was good using nymphs and dry flies.

Clayton Lake: Fishing for walleye and trout has been slow. Fishing for catfish has been fair using chicken liver as bait. The boat ramp is closed due to low water levels.

Conchas Lake: Fishing was very good using worms for bluegill. Fishing was good using senkos, jigs, tubes and creature baits for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass. Fishing was good using crank baits for white bass. Fishing was fair to good using bottom bouncer spinner/worm rigs and minnow rigs for walleye. Jig heads with curly tail grub and minnow/worm combinations are also working well for walleye. Fishing was fair using cut bait, worms and liver for catfish. We had no reports on other species.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla on Monday was 78.0 cfs. Fishing is fair using yellow sallies, hoppers, stimulators and small bead head mayfly nymphs.

Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Coyote Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing was fair to good for trout using PowerBait fished 4-feet from the lake bottom. Fishing was good for perch using wooly buggers and worms. A few pike were caught by anglers using streamer flies and trolling spinners. There is moss build up on the lake and the best fishing reports came from areas clear of moss. We had no reports on other species.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing was fair to good using Pistol Petes, spinners, worms and PowerBait for trout.

Fawn Lakes: The last report was that high runoff water has created poor fishing conditions.

Gallinas River: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing was good for trout using salmon eggs, peach PowerBait and fly patterns such as wooly buggers and Pistol Petes.

Lake Alice: Fishing for trout was fair using a fly below a bobber.

Lake Maloya: Fishing was good using Pistol Petes, spoons, spinners and PowerBait for trout.

Los Pinos River: Fishing was good for anglers using woolly buggers and parachute Adams flies.

Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Monastery Lake: Fishing was fair to good using PowerBait for trout.

Morphy Lake: Closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos on Monday morning was 83.6 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait, worms, salmon eggs, wooly buggers, leach pattern flies and Panther Martin spinners.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery on Monday morning was 83.7 cfs. Fishing was good using salmon eggs with split shot weights, Panther Martin spinners, golden hare’s ear nymphs and a few trout were also caught on dry flies.

Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge was 1,440 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Valdez was 43.7 cfs. Trout fishing was fair to good using small spinners and salmon eggs.

Rio Mora: Stream flow on Monday morning was 30.7 cfs. Fishing the upper river for trout was fair to good using worms.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow on Monday morning near Penasco was 13.5 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using bead head nymphs, hoppers and worms.

Santa Cruz Reservoir: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Shuree Ponds: We hand no reports from anglers this week. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1 – December 31.

Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ute Lake: Fishing was very good using nightcrawlers for bluegill. Fishing was good for smallmouth and largemouth bass using ned rigs, plastic crawdads, tubes, senkos (rigged wacky) and grubs on brushy points and deeper drop-offs. Good plastic bass bait colors have been natural, green, pumpkin and watermelon. Anglers reported catching a 6-pound and 4-pound largemouth bass last week. Fishing was fair to good for white bass jigging in 25 feet of water at the mouth of various coves. Fishing was slow to fair using jigs, gulp minnows, nightcrawlers and live minnows for walleye in 25 to 40 feet of water. Fishing for catfish was good using liver and stink bait. Fishing for crappie was slow. The surface water temperature was in the low 80s.

Abiquiu Lake: Fishing for walleye and smallmouth bass was good using drop shot with a senko worm rigged wacky style. Anglers reported having good success using black and blue colors near drop-offs and undercut rocks, just south of the boat ramp. Fishing was also good for catfish using worms in the morning. Due to low water levels anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec on Monday morning was 1,360 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing for bass was good using micro crankbaits, senko worms and jitter bug crank baits.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing was good for bank and boat anglers fishing for tiger muskie using spoons, jerkbaits, square bill crankbaits, spinnerbaits, streamer flies and muskie were caught on top water lures as well. Fishing for catfish at night was fair using stink bait, hotdogs and waterdogs. Trout fishing was slow; no one reported catching any trout this weekend.

Brazos River: Fishing was good using pheasant tail nymphs, worms and salmon eggs for trout.

Canjilon Lakes: Fishing was fair to good using worms, spinners, Pistol Petes and PowerBait for trout.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 158 cfs and 333 cfs respectively. Fishing below El Vado was fair to good using nymphs (size 16), egg pattern flies and streamers for trout. Fishing was slow below Abiquiu Dam.

Cochiti Lake: Fishing has been slow to fair for bass using nightcrawlers. Fishing was slow to fair for catfish using beef liver, homemade dough baits, worms, cut bait and stink bait.

El Vado Lake: Fishing for bass was good using plastic worms, night crawlers and crankbaits.

Fenton Lake: Fishing was slow for trout.

Heron Lake: Fishing was slow for all species. The best bank fishing was reported to be on the lake’s western edge using worms and PowerBait for trout.

Jackson Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez near the town of Jemez on Monday morning was 21.6 cfs. Fishing on the upper Rio San Antonio was good using dry flies such as hoppers and Panther Martin spinners for trout. Using stealth to approach feeding fish is a key to success. At higher elevations the biting horse flies are very bad and anglers are recommended to have DEET bug spray and long sleeves/pant legs. Fishing for trout on the Rio Cebolla below Fenton Lake was fair to good using worms.

Laguna del Campo: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lagunitas Lakes: Trout fishing was slow with reports of only a couple of fish being caught using small red worms.

Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Manzano Lake: We had a report that fishing was slow, but a couple of bass and trout are being caught.

McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: Fishing was fair to good for bass using buzz baits and chartreuse crankbaits. Pike fishing was fair to good using white and fire tiger colored swimbaits, crankbaits, rattle traps and buzz baits in 10 to 30 feet of water. Kokanee salmon fishing was good using green, pink and orange spinners tipped with corn fished 20 to 40 feet deep. Anglers reported having success fishing for kokanee using Double Whammies, Kokanee Killers and other assorted spinners. Anglers fishing for kokanee salmon and casting crankbaits also caught a couple of brown trout. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait and Pistol Petes.

San Juan River: Stream flow on Monday morning was 1,050 cfs. Trout fishing above Texas Hole is fair to good using size 24-26 midges and annelids. Fishing below Texas Hole in the deeper runs is fair using San Juan worms, leach patterns and egg patterns. Fishing the bait waters was fair to good using night crawlers, Panther Martin spinners and Gulp eggs.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing was very good using PowerBait, salmon eggs, a wide assortment of small flies, leach patterns and wooly buggers for trout.

Tingley Beach: Fishing at all ponds was fair using worms and flies for bluegill. Fishing was slow to fair using worms, hot dogs and homemade dough bait for catfish. We had no other reports.

Trout Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Alto Lake: Fishing was fair to good for catfish using worms.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Berrendo Creek: Fishing was slow for bass. Fishing was good for carp and blue gill using worms and dough bait.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga on Monday morning was 5.60 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Blue Hole Park Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bonito Lake: Closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.

Bosque Redondo Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bottomless Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Brantley Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Carlsbad Municipal Lake: Fishing was fair for catfish using nightcrawlers and hotdogs. Fishing for bass was fair using soft plastic worms.

Chaparral Park Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Corona Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Eunice Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Green Meadow Lake: Fishing for catfish was fair to good using cut bait.

Greene Acres Lake: Fishing was fair for catfish using shrimp and hotdogs.

Grindstone Reservoir: Fishing was good for trout using worms, PowerBait and salmon eggs. We had no reports on other species.

Jal Lake: Fishing for catfish was good using hotdogs and homemade dough baits.

Lake Van: Fishing was good for catfish using worms and stink baits.

Oasis Park Lake: Fishing for bass was fair using small minnow style crankbaits.

Pecos River: Stream flow below Sumner Lake on Monday morning was 89.9 cfs. Fishing for catfish was good using chicken liver.
