The Los Alamos Juvenile Justice Advisory Board (JJAB) is excited to announce that they have selected Lisa Zuhn as Executive Director.
The Executive Director is a newly created position for JJAB to address recent structural changes and assist with the long-term goals of the organization. Jordan Redmond, Board Chair explains “In an effort to enhance Board involvement and ensure smooth operations of JJAB’s direct services and indirect program support the Board decided to create an Executive Director position. This role will consolidate the functions of the JJAB Coordinators as well as many of the functions previously performed graciously by volunteer Board members. We are excited about this change as the transition helps prepare JJAB to continue to serve the community long into the future.”
Zuhn has been a Coordinator for JJAB since November 2016, managing the Resource Specialist program along with other programs, overseeing the organization’s finances, and working with partners and funders. Zuhn is a graduate of New Mexico State University (BS) and Houston Baptist University (MBA), she has had an extensive career in human resources and employee relations, has worked for the Los Alamos Municipal Court, and is a 2013-14 graduate of the Leadership Los Alamos program.
The Board finalized the decision to create the position and hire Zuhn at their monthly meeting on Wednesday night.
“As JJAB enters a new phase, I’m excited that Lisa Zuhn has accepted the key position. Lisa has extensive first-hand knowledge of all of the JJAB programs and strong relationships with members of the community. Her selection ensures JJAB will continue to support innovative strategies that improve the wellbeing and development of the youth in our community.” said Carter Payne, JJAB Board Member and Los Alamos high School Principal.
Additionally, Kristine Coblentz, JJAB Board Member and Program Director for the LAPS Healthy Schools Initiative stated “I’m looking forward to continuing our collaboration with JJAB and with Lisa Zuhn in her new role. Lisa brings strong communication, organizational, and planning skills to this position. I am confident that she is prepared to guide JJAB toward successfully meeting the challenges inherent in running a non-profit and will help grow and develop the organization in positive ways.”
