Join the Pajarito Environmental Education Center and Los Alamos County this Saturday, April 20 for a spring trail workday on the Perimeter Trail. This volunteer project will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and participants will focus on planting willows and shrubs in arroyos along a section of the trail. There will be jobs for all ages at this event and it is free participate.  Registration is requested so that there will be enough supplies and snacks available for volunteers.

Participants should meet on Maple Drive where the Perimeter Trail crosses the road. Clippers, saws, shovels, other tools, extra gloves, snacks and good company will all be provided. Volunteers should bring a water bottle and work gloves if they have them and wear long pants and closed toe shoes. All participants will be required to sign a waiver when they arrive to volunteer with the County.

This volunteer project will serve as a kick-off to PEEC’s Earth Day celebration. The main Earth Day Festival is coming up on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., but events will be going on throughout the week to celebrate.
