Roger Montoya, co-founder and artistic director of Moving Arts Espanola (MAE), spoke recently at the Rotary Club of Los Alamos, describing the growth and success of the non-profit since it opened its doors in 2008 to the children and youth of the Española Valley and the surrounding communities of Northern New Mexico. MAE provides ‘high quality, affordable performing and visual arts education’ plus free meals and academic support
for ages 3-18. The MAE programs promote ‘the creative, physical, academic, social and emotional health and well-being’ of its many participants. As part of the presentation, Montoya showed a video, ‘Community Voices: Moving Arts Espanola’, created by Meow Wolf, which highlights MAE’s numerous activities and features interviews with students whose lives have been positively changed by MAE.
