you know that Saturn has thunderstorms? Thanks to the Cassini mission that orbited Saturn, scientists have discovered this and much more about this fascinating planet and its moons. Join Dan Reisenfeld on Friday, March 22 at 7 p.m. at the Los Alamos Nature Center to learn more about the results of this tremendously successful mission.
NASA and the European Space Agency had a spacecraft at Saturn sending back a continuous stream of images for 13 years. From 2004 to 2017, the Cassini mission orbited Saturn and made spectacular discoveries about the planet, its rings and its moons. Reisenfeld will take the audience on a tour of the discoveries of this mission, which he worked on himself!
In addition to this talk, the nature center will show the full-dome film “Incoming!” on Saturday, March 23 at 2 p.m. This planetarium show explores asteroids, comets and the hard-hitting stories of our cosmic origins. “Incoming!” lets the audience embark on a journey back in time and across the Solar System to follow the paths of asteroids and comets that have collided with Earth and those that roam far from home.
Seating is limited for both of these events, so please call the nature center at 505-662-0460 or stop by to reserve your tickets. Admission for both programs is $6 for adults and $4 for children. Events in the planetarium are not recommended for children under age 4.
