Los Alamos Early College and Career Academy (LAECCA) is looking for Los Alamos High School students who have potential to do college coursework or technical certifications before high school graduation.

An informational meeting for potential LAECCA students and their parents will take place on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall on the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos campus.  This is in Building 2 on the upper level next to Secret City Kitchen.

The goal of the LAECCA is to create a seamless experience for students between high school and their post-secondary goals by providing a focused pathway for a future career.

LAECCA supports students in early access to post-secondary training allowing them to graduate from high school with not only a diploma but also college credentials and credits. LAECCA emphasizes three major areas of post-secondary study: electro-mechanical technologies, business, and emergency medical services. LAECCA students can earn college certifications and substantial credits towards an associate’s degree.  Successful early college students must demonstrate strong attendance, motivation, and commitment.

UNM-LA a valued post-secondary educational partner in the development and implementation of this initiative.  The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and Los Alamos National Laboratory are important workforce partners supporting the development of critical career readiness skills.
