Dr. Lopez To Address New Directions in Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment At Free LACC Fall Community Seminar

Dr. Timothy Lopez, MD, FACP will be the featured speaker at the Los Alamos Council on Cancer’s fall community seminar Monday, Oct. 15. The topic is “New Directions in Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment: Precision Medicine”.

The event begins at 5:15 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 2200 Diamond Drive with a light dinner for those who have pre-registered by Oct. 10. The seminar runs from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a question and answer session.

The objectives of the seminar are:

  • To understand the concept of Precision Medicine and the challenges and limitations of current molecular diagnostic techniques including Next Generation Sequencing;
  • To review the history of systemic cancer treatments as it applies to Precision Medicine;
  • To witness practical applications of Precision Medicine in cancer treatment today using pancreatic cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer and ymphoproliferative disorders as examples;
  • To perceive challenges and opportunities for the future.

Dr. Lopez in in private practice at Northern NM Cancer Center in Los Alamos. He was trained at the University of New Mexico Hospital, Bay State Medical Center in Massachusetts and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He is Board
Certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Hematology and Medical Oncology.

Nurses and Allied Professionals will be awarded 1.5 CE contact hours for the seminar.
Los Alamos Medical Center is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (Provider No. 15835) for 1.5 Contact Hours.
