LAHS Girls Soccer
The Los Alamos High School girls soccer team has spent the season proving that hard work, teamwork, and determination pay off. Ranked third in the state in Class 4A, the Lady Hilltoppers have established themselves as one of the most formidable teams in their division, and now they are ready to open the state playoffs on their home turf.
Strong defense, smart midfield control, and a relentless attack have defined the team’s play all year. That consistency has kept Los Alamos near the top of the state rankings and earned the Hilltoppers the respect of every opponent on their schedule.
The season’s first big statement came early, when the girls won the Albuquerque Academy tournament and defeated the host school along the way. It was a feat that had not been accomplished in 12 years, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
Another milestone came when the team captured the district championship. A title like that takes more than talent. It demands focus in high-pressure matches, resilience in tough moments, and a group that plays for one another. This team has shown all of those qualities.
The district crown also earned the squad the privilege of hosting a home game in the opening round of the state playoffs. The Lady Hilltoppers will take on Valley at Sullivan Field this Thursday Oct. 27 , 4:00.
Fans, families, and students are encouraged to pack the stands. A loud, passionate home crowd can change the feel of a playoff match, and the team will be counting on that energy as it begins its postseason run. A victory Thursday would move them one step closer to a state title. So wear your school colors, bring your voice, and cheer on the Hilltoppers as they begin their quest for a state championship!
The team is coached by Adam Drew, Jiri Kubicek, and head coach Jessica Kubicek- Sutherland.
