AQUATOMICS NEWS RELEASE
Despite the extended closure of the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center, Los Alamos Aquatomics team have continued to train, grow, and thrive thanks to the dedication of our athletes, coaches, families, and the incredible support of our local community.
Throughout the summer, our swimmers practiced at Piñon Pool and Barranca Mesa Pool. We are especially grateful to Los Alamos County staff, including Dakotah Hoffer and the lifeguards, as well as the Barranca Mesa Pool Board and members, particularly Amelia and Chris, for helping us keep our athletes in the water.
As summer came to an end and other pools closed for the season, East Park Pool stepped up to keep our team swimming. For over a month, East Park has worked tirelessly to remain open, allowing our athletes to continue practicing right here in Los Alamos.
From beautiful sunsets and moonrises to chilly evenings and occasional rain, our swimmers have embraced this unique experience with enthusiasm and determination. Some of our newest athletes have never even practiced at the Aquatic Center!
This experience has reminded us that the strength of our team goes far beyond the pool. Our athletes have demonstrated resilience, our coaches have adapted, and our families have shown incredible commitment.
A special shout-out to East Park Pool for going above and beyond to support our swimmers. We are grateful to everyone who has helped our team continue doing what we love.
The Aquatomics are proof that even when our home pool is closed, our team spirit remains stronger than ever!
