COUNTY NEWS RELEASE
On Monday, October 26, crews with Dub-L-EE Construction are scheduled to begin repairs to an existing storm drain manhole located near the southwest corner of Central Avenue and 9th Street. Work is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete, weather permitting. Planned repairs involve removing and replacing the top of the existing concrete structure and manhole lid to address structural damage and restore safe access for future inspection and maintenance of the storm drain system.
During construction, motorists should anticipate temporary lane restrictions on Central Avenue near the intersection of 9th Street. Work is expected to occur between approximately 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., during which time traffic will be reduced to one lane. Flaggers will be stationed to manage traffic in both directions along Central Avenue and facilitate safe vehicle movements into and out of 9th Street. All lanes will be reopened to normal traffic at the conclusion of each workday.
Access to the Los Alamos County Municipal Building will be maintained throughout construction, and early voting activities are not expected to be impacted. Additionally, construction activities will not interfere with the annual Trick or Treat on MainStreet event on October 30th, as festivities will take place along Central Avenue between Knecht Street and 20th Street, outside the designated construction area. Motorists are encouraged to use caution, follow posted traffic control signs, and allow additional travel time when traveling through the area.
Los Alamos County appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation while this necessary infrastructure repair is completed.
