PEEC: New Mexico Wild And PEEC Present ‘Exploring New Mexico’s Rivers Oct. 19

PEEC NEWS RELEASE

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) and New Mexico Wild will host “Exploring New Mexico’s Rivers,” a free talk on Monday, October 19, 2026, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. MT at the Los Alamos Nature Center, 2600 Canyon Road. The event is open to the public and will also be livestreamed for free online.

The program celebrates the release of Wild Waters: Passport to New Mexico’s Rivers, the newest addition to New Mexico Wild’s Wild Guide collection. New Mexico Wild Conservation Director Bjorn Fredrickson will lead an engaging conversation about the state’s rivers, exploring their value as places for recreation and their importance to New Mexico’s ecosystems.

Whether drawn to whitewater adventure, native trout streams, or the quiet beauty of hidden canyons, readers can use Wild Waters to explore some of New Mexico’s most remarkable waterways. The guide features more than 40 river segments across eight major watersheds, with detailed information on access points, ideal seasons to visit, and each river’s ecological and recreational significance.
