LOS ALAMOS JJAB NEWS RELEASE
Los Alamos JJAB was pleased to host the New Mexico Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee (JJAC) during its visit to Los Alamos on September 15, 2026. As part of the visit, JJAC conducted its quarterly Board meeting in Los Alamos, bringing together state and local partners focused on supporting youth and strengthening juvenile prevention and intervention efforts across New Mexico.
More than 40 people attended in-person with another 15 participating via video conferencing, including JJAC members, Los Alamos JJAB Board members and staff, Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) Special Grants Unit staff, state continuum leaders, community representatives, and local partners.
During the visit, Los Alamos JJAB Executive Director Dianna Reichelt provided an overview of JJAB’s programs and services and shared how the organization works with local partners to support youth and families throughout Los Alamos County.
Through State of New Mexico continuum funding, JJAC provides funding to Los Alamos County to support local juvenile justice prevention and intervention services. Los Alamos County contracts with Los Alamos JJAB to provide the continuum programs and services supported by these funds. JJAC funding partially supports three JJAB programs: the Resource Specialist Program, One Circle, and the Restorative Justice Program.These programs are part of JJAB’s broader continuum of prevention, early intervention, and support services designed to address local needs, strengthen protective factors, and connect youth and families with resources.
“We were grateful for the opportunity to welcome JJAC members to Los Alamos and share more about the work happening in our community,” said Reichelt. “State continuum funding, along with our partnership with Los Alamos County, helps us provide programs and services that respond to the needs of local youth and families. Having JJAC hold its meeting here also provided a valuable opportunity to bring state and local partners together, strengthen relationships, and share what we are seeing and learning through our work with youth.”
