Los Alamos Retired & Senior Organization (LARSO) members were notified Wednesday morning by Executive Director Ramon Garcia that effective immediately, meal service is being temporarily suspended meal service while steps are taken “to strengthen kitchen operations and ensure that the quality, consistency, and reliability of the program meet the standards our members deserve”.

“This decision was not made lightly. Over the past several days, we have received feedback regarding food quality and service delivery. After careful consideration and consultation with our nutrition leadership, I have determined that a temporary pause is the most responsible course of action. While our original plan was to continue services during this transition period, we believe that taking time to stabilize operations is in the best interest of our members and our community,” Garcia said.

He noted that LARSO is committed to excellence in everything it does.

“When we fall short of that standard, we have a responsibility to listen, make adjustments, and take corrective action. This temporary suspension reflects our commitment to providing services that are safe, dependable, and worthy of the trust you place in us,” Ramon said.

He said during the pause, LARSO will be reassessing kitchen operations, strengthening systems and procedures, and preparing for the resumption of services under enhanced leadership and oversight and that additional details regarding timelines and next steps will be communicated as soon as they become available.

“I understand that many members rely on our meal program and may be disappointed by this news. Please know that this decision comes from a place of care for our members, respect for our mission, and a commitment to the long-term success of the nutrition program,” Garcia said.
