SFNF NEWS RELEASE

We are responding to a new fire start in the Espanola Ranger District. The cause is undetermined but lightning was detected in the area. It is located in the Ski Basin area near the Saddleback and Chamisa Trails. Smoke is visible from Santa Fe and surrounding communities. Currently, there are no threats to people or property. A helicopter is en route to drop buckets of water and slow forward progress.

Safety: Please avoid the fire area so crews can respond. Recreational drones near wildfires are not safe. If you fly, we can’t!
