COUNTY NEWS RELEASE (Received 10:34 a.m. Friday)

Last night, a lightning strike started a small fire west of Los Alamos townsite and smoke has been visible this morning. Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) responded and notified Santa Fe National Forest, which has since assumed command of the incident. LAFD remains on scene assisting.

There is currently no threat to the community.
