PEEC NEWS RELEASE
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is currently hosting a photo exhibit by Richard Skolnik on the nature center gallery wall. This beautiful array of photos features birds, bees, and bears found both locally and nationally. The framed photos in the exhibit cost $150 and may be purchased by contacting the photographer at reston.richard@gmail.com or 703-627-6646. Twenty-five (25%) of the proceeds from all sales of framed photos and prints from Richard’s website will be donated to the PEEC.
About the Photographer
Richard is an international development and global health specialist. He spent 25 years at the World Bank, retiring as the Director for Health, Nutrition, and Population for the South Asia Region. Following this, Richard taught global health at The George Washington University and Yale and was the Executive Director for Harvard for a PEPFAR AIDS treatment program for three countries in Africa. He is the author of Global Health 101, Fourth Edition, and the Instructor for Yale/Coursera’s Essentials of Global Health.
While he has always enjoyed taking “snapshots” of the wildlife he would see on his adventures, about two years ago Richard began to take daily walks with a camera to take pictures of birds, other wildlife, and insects. Richard aims in his walks and photography to clear his head and to come home with photos that make him, his family, his friends, and the community smile.
About the Art
The photos were printed by WhiteWall, one of the leading photographic printers in the world, on a fine art paper, Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, Ultra Smooth. Village Arts matted and framed the photos, which are covered by conservation clear glass. Village Arts discounted the cost of framing, since the photos are being sold to raise money for the PEEC.
