SALA Los Alamos Event Center is welcoming the fall season with a full September lineup featuring family programming, classic films, new releases, special screenings, live performances, science events, and community gatherings.
From Date Night and PJs & Movies to Studio Ghibli Fest, National Theatre Live, Teen Movie Night, and ScienceFest programming, September offers a wide range of opportunities for the Los Alamos community to come together at SALA.
September Featured Events
SALA kicks off the month with Date Night featuring Matilda on Thursday, September 3 at 6:00 p.m. The free screening is sponsored by Larissa Baker, Jessica Booton, Jessica Hoffer, Becca Jones, Jordan Lichthardt, Janet Lovato, and Veronika Vaneckova. Get free tickets here.
Emergency Preparedness & PJs & Movies. On Saturday, September 5, SALA will host a special Emergency Preparedness & PJs & Movies family event from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Families can enjoy a morning of preparedness activities, including Penny the Preparedness PUP, a Flash Flood Demo, an Emergency Shelter Game, educational exhibits, and more.
The morning will also feature PJs & Movies: DC League of Super-Pets at 9:00 a.m. The free movie is sponsored by the Los Alamos Police Department.

The Faith and Community Series returns Saturday, September 12 at 4:00 p.m. The featured film will be announced and is sponsored by Lisa Shin, O.D. Free tickets will be available soon.
That evening, SALA will host Teen Movie Night at 7:30 p.m., featuring the free movie Runner. The first 25 teens will receive a large popcorn and a large drink. The event is sponsored by Los Alamos JJAB. Tickets are available at https://sala.losalamos.com/
On Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 p.m., Parallel Cinema will feature The Spies Among Us, sponsored by CM ArborCare. Get free tickets here https://sala.losalamos.com/
The month continues with Journeys on Sunday, September 20 at 6:30 p.m. The documentary explores the uses, ethics, science, and practice behind microdose and full-dose psilocybin psychedelic therapy through interviews, personal stories, and handcrafted visuals. New Reels and Classics
SALA’s September New Reels lineup continues throughout the month, with screenings running Fridays through Sundays and sponsored by Casa Los Alamos. Movie titles and screen times are subject to change.

National Theatre Live and Studio Ghibli Fest
The National Theatre Live series returns with The Misanthrope on Thursday, September 24 and Sunday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. The screenings are sponsored by the Los Alamos Arts Council. Get your tickets at https://sala.losalamos.com/

Science, Music and Community
September also features several community-focused events.
On Thursday, September 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Bradbury Science Museum Association will host a screening of Picture A Scientist as part of STEAM Night. The documentary examines the challenges faced by women in science and the efforts to create a more diverse and equitable research community. Families and community members are invited to join Family Karaoke with PEZ on Friday, September 25 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event is free to the public. More information is available at https://sala.losalamos.com/
SALA will also be part of Los Alamos ScienceFest with the STEMarts-Live Coding Performance on Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m. The free event will feature artist and student performances and an interactive demonstration featuring Kelsey Davis, Astrophysicist, and the STEMarts Live-Coders. “It’s All Elemental”
SALA will also join the Los Alamos community in celebrating ScienceFest on Saturday, September 26. This year’s theme, “It’s All Elemental,” brings together STEAM organizations, educators, scientists, and supporters for a day of interactive experiences and hands-on activities.
The main events include Discovery Day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Discovery After Dark from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, demonstrations, workshops, and activities designed to spark curiosity and excitement for all ages.
ScienceFest is open to the public.
