UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) is honored to receive a $5,000 Triad National Security LLC grant to further its Faculty Support Fund. The intention of the fund is to offer faculty support for professional development activities that increase their expertise, improve their effectiveness in the classroom and continue their professional development.

Higher Education and Workforce Development Specialist in the Los Alamos National Laboratory Community Partnerships Office, Dr. Rebecca Estrada, Ed.D., expressed, “We are grateful to UNM-LA’s commitment to their students and community and recognize the value of their ability to provide The Laboratory and region with a prepared workforce because of engaged and dedicated faculty.”

UNM-LA has recently added the Faculty Support Fund as a key initiative to target donations. Leadership determined that incentivizing new hires and retaining veteran faculty through a robust campus grant system for professional growth is a practical and attractive route.

“I’m so proud that they understand the value of supporting, hiring and retention of our faculty,” said Karen Williams, UNM-LA director of development.
