Operational Update: Today, the “Go” evacuation status on Camino de Cañon in Cundiyo was downgraded to “Set” due to increased containment along the western perimeter of the fire. Smoke conditions in the area have improved with decreased fire activity over the last couple of days. For current air-quality information in your community, visit fire.airnow.gov.

Crews secured and increased depth of containment lines up to 100 feet today from the northwestern portion down the western side through the Frijoles canyon toward the southwestern section of the fire. Aircraft supported ground crews in meeting the incident objectives. Plans developed for firefighting in the Pecos Wilderness utilize Minimum Impact Suppression Techniques (MIST). MIST is the use of the least amount of forces necessary to effectively achieve the objectives while minimizing environmental, cultural, and social impacts.

Tonight, crews will monitor for storms in the forecast. They will remain strategically positioned to protect communities through the night should the fire activity increase in the area. Incident management will work closely with Resource Advisors, who help implement measures to protect and preserve natural and cultural resources.

Weather: Tonight will be partly cloudy, there is a 60% chance of rain with isolated showers and storms. Temperatures will be between 56℉ and 62℉, with relative humidity between 50% to 60%. Winds will be from the west southwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Evacuations:  In Santa Fe County, Camino de Cañon is downgraded from “Go” status to “Set”. All of Cundiyo, Cerro Piñon, and the Borrego Mesa area—specifically near Forest Roads 440 and 306—are  in “Set” status. Nambe Pueblo Lake remains in “Ready” status.
