This month’s meeting of the Military Order of World Wars will be held on Aug. 18 in the Los Alamos Research Park building, room 203A. This month’s speaker will be Lance Fresquez, Los Alamos County Emergency Management Coordinator.

The meeting will begin with a social period at 6 p.m. followed by a brief business meeting at 6:30 p.m. There may be a presentation starting at about 7:15 p.m.

Prepared communities are built through strong partnerships before an emergency occurs. This presentation will introduce the Los Alamos County Preparedness Team (LACPT), an initiative designed to strengthen community preparedness and resilience by bringing together individuals, organizations, businesses, and community partners throughout Los Alamos County.

The presentation will provide an overview of LACPT’s purpose, how the program supports the County’s broader emergency preparedness efforts, and the role community partners can play before, during, and after emergencies. Attendees will also learn about opportunities to become involved with LACPT and how greater collaboration, communication, and preparedness across the community can help Los Alamos respond to and recover from future emergencies.
