Attention all Trekkers! On Saturday, October 10, The Los Alamos Community Winds will present a special Star Trek 60th Anniversary Concert at Crossroads Bible Church. Music from the original 1960’s television series and music from the movies featuring the original cast and characters will be presented. The Los Alamos Community Winds would like to invite all Trekkers and the entire community to join us for this event.
For this event, LACW will be having a display in the lobby and are hoping to have as much “Trek” history as we can.
Displays may include (but are not necessarily limited to) the following:
- scale models
- artwork
- prop recreations
- costume recreations
Other types of display items may include:
- photos of yourself with members of the original (or any of the various series’) cast members
- signed objects (e.g. scripts, lobby cards, and other promotional items)
- anything else that respectfully honors the legacy of Star Trek.
Due to the nature of the venue, space will be limited, but we do want to display as much as possible for audience members to see before the concert, during intermission, and afterward. However, we must stress that this is not to be considered as an “arts and craft fair” or any other type of sales opportunity. This is purely for the enjoyment of the concert attendees.
Additionally, we will be having a costume contest as part of the festivities. Any and all Star Trek and Trek-related cosplayers are invited to join. And of course, even if you don’t participate in the contest, you are welcome to show up in costume as a member of the audience. If you have memorabilia that you would like to have featured as part of this celebration, or for any additional information about this event, please contact Dr. Ted Vives, LACW Director at director@lacw.org Deadline for requesting/submitting items for featured display is Tuesday, September 22.
