David (Dave) Lee Harrison, loving husband and father of two sons, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the age of 72.
David was born on May 7, 1954, in Pendleton, OR to Robert Kay and Mildred Avis (Brannan) Harrison. His family moved to Walla Walla, WA for his elementary school years, and again to West Yellowstone, MT for his junior high and high school year where David graduated from Bozeman High School in 1972. As a young man, Dave loved being outside, riding dirt bikes in the summer and snowmobiles during the snowy months.
Enlisting in the U.S. Army from 1975 to 1978, David served as a Wheeled and Tracked Vehicle Mechanic stationed in West Germany. In 1983, he moved to Idaho Falls, ID where he met the love of his life Shawna Schwabedissen, and on February 8, 1985, they were married. In August of 1988, David and Shawna moved to Los Alamos, NM, where he would work as a Special Security Officer with the protective force at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Dave retired from the protective force in April 2019 after 30 yrs.
During that time, David and Shawna raised their two sons, Benjamin and Aaron, in beautiful Los Alamos where they were heavily involved in their church community. Dave will be remembered a steadfast follower of Jesus Christ, loving husband, protector, provider for his family, a life-long student of God’s Word, an honest and kind friend, a loyal employee, a compassionate supporter of vulnerable children, and an animal lover (especially cats).
David is preceded in death by his father, Kay, and his mother, Mildred. He is survived by his wife, Shawna; his sons and their spouses, Benjamin (Elizabeth) and Aaron (Angela); his brothers and their spouses, James (Karen) and Dean (Shirley); grandchildren, Elijah, Brielle and Audrey, and nieces and nephews. Family and friends will miss Dave very much.
David’s life will be honored with viewing on August 18, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Bible Church, 97 East Road, Los Alamos, NM 87544. A reception will follow the service.
The following day, August 19, 2026, a private family committal ceremony will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
