Los Alamos County Planning & Zoning Commission is set to review a request from Christus Health Wednesday, Aug. 12 for approval of a Site Plan Adoption for the construction of a 37,277-square-foot, two-story medical facility on the approximately 1.64-acre property located at 401 Trinity Drive, zoned General Commercial (GC).

The site plan is for the Christus Health Los Alamos facility, which will consist of a new freestanding emergency department and health center on property that is currently undeveloped. The building will have about 19,000 square foot of footprint and be a maximum of 36 feet high. It will include a 10-bed emergency clinic and it will coverage 27 percent of the lot. Some 62 off-street parking spaces are to be provided as well as a dedicated ambulance parking and drop-off area.

The site of the proposed facility used to belong to the Knights of Columbus and the two parcels at 401 Trinity Drive and 104 DP Road have been consolidated into a single lot – 401 Trinity.

The staff report by Planning Manager Danyelle Valdez indicates that the property is zoned General Commercial and medical and health centers are allowed under that zoning district. The facility is expected to have a maximum of 30 employees on the largest shift.
