County: Cone Zone Can Help Prepare For Busy school Commutes

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

Residents and commuters are encouraged to use the online “Construction Cone Zone” to stay informed about potential travel impacts along daily routes. Find the Cone Zone at www.lacnm.com/conezone.

Echoing the Los Alamos Police Department’s public safety messaging encouraging proactive choices for a safe start to the school year, Los Alamos County would like to remind local and regional commuters to give themselves extra time to get to their destinations heading into next week, especially while navigating through construction zones.

Year-round, construction is weather-permitting, and project schedules may change without notice. The Cone Zone page is updated on an as-needed basis to reflect current conditions and changes for active projects. A new map feature highlights construction at a glance. Not all construction or special events are County-managed, so inclusion of every project or event in the Cone Zone is not guaranteed.

Community members are reminded to put safety first in work zones! Motorists and pedestrians should always use caution, reduce speeds, and follow all posted detours and signage.
