It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ernestine Aragon Garcia, who passed away July 18, 2026, at the age of 79.
Ernestine was born Oct. 12, 1946, in El Vado, New Mexico, to Doroteo and Cleotilde Aragon.
Ernestine dedicated many years of her life to her family as a devoted mother. She also worked and retired from Los Alamos Public Schools. She touched the lives of many through her kindness, compassion, and caring spirit. Her warm heart, beautiful smile, and contagious laughter brought joy to everyone who knew her.
Above all, Ernestine cherished her relationship with Jesus and her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love, generosity, strength, and the lasting memories she created with those around her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and legacy will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Doroteo and Cleotilde Aragon; her brother Agapito Aragon; and her daughter Eloida Morfin.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Garcia; her children Leonard Morfin, Molly Morfin, Joaquin Morfin, Adolfo Morfin, and Christobal Morfin; her stepchildren Teddy (Macrina) Garcia, Eddie (Iris) Garcia, Carol (Ronald) Campos, Michael (Susana) Garcia, Joelle (Daniel) DeHerrera, and Rebecca Garcia. Her siblings Macario Aragon, Doroteo Aragon, Robert (Loyola) Archuleta, Rosalia (late husband Alcario) Chacon, Vangie (Dennis) Herrera, Susan (late husband Rafel) Martinez, Lori (Carlos) Muniz, Luretta (Pete) Maestas, and cousin Stella (late husband Victor) Esquibel; along with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held for Ernestine at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 30, 2026 at Victory Faith Church, 823 Angel Duran Dr, Española, NM 87532.
Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026 at Eulogy at 10:30 a.m. service starts at 11 a.m., at San Jose Parish, 101 Main St, Los Ojos, NM 87551.
Burial will follow at Terra Amarilla Cemetery. The family welcomes you to join them for a meal at the San Jose Parish Hall following the burial.
