County: Residents Receiving Fraudulent Calls Spoofing Atomic City Transit

COUNTY NEWS RELEASE

There have been several reports from around the County of an ongoing scam appearing to target Atomic City Transit’s (ACT) dispatch phone number (505-661-7433). These calls come from external scammers, not from ACT.

Remember, riding the ACT is free. ACT will never ask for credit card, financial, or personal information. If you receive one of these calls, hang up immediately. The County is actively investigating this issue.

This latest scam is a good reminder that Los Alamos Police Department and the local FBI field office are hosting a community presentation on scams and elderly fraud on Tuesday, August 18 at 4:30 p.m. at Fuller Lodge.
