Consuelo’s Place Homeless Shelter recently announced that it had been granted 501(c)3 nonprofit designation from the Internal Revenue Service, and effective July 1, 2026, isit began operating as an independent nonprofit organization.

What this means is that Consuelo’s Place now has the ability to operate autonomously and apply for a broader range of grants, strengthen community partnerships, and accept tax-deductible donations directly in support of its work.

At the bottom of this post, there is information about how to jump in and help Consuelo’s place going forward – either through a monetary donation or by making a purchase on their Amazon Wishlist. There is also a list of items that are constantly needed that can be dropped off anytime, and there are directions on how to make drop-offs.

Consuelo’s place has been fortunate to receive an abundance of donations of women’s clothes and footwear but is always in need of men’s clothing and footwear.
