With deep sorrow, the family of James K. Lind announces his passing on June 20, 2026, in Stamford, Texas, at the age of 59. James was born on Sept. 9, 1966, in Los Alamos, New Mexico, where he was embraced by a close-knit community that knew him well and loved him dearly.
James was widely recognized as a strong, loving, and caring man—stubborn at times and proudly hard- headed, yet steadfastly generous with his time and his heart. He faced a difficult beginning in life and met its challenges with quiet resolve, holding strong to the very end. In Los Alamos and beyond, James was the sort of person who showed up when someone needed a hand, offering guidance, good humor, and the kind of practical support that changes lives.
A true jack of all trades, James spent many years working in construction and took pride in doing honest, hands-on work. He was also an “odd-job” kind of man— resourceful, reliable, and always willing to help. Among his most meaningful contributions was his time mentoring and supporting others at Hoy Recovery Center, where his compassion, candor, and lived experience made a lasting difference. He was not only a devoted father, but also a loving son, a brother, and a loyal friend to many.
James is survived by his father, Gary Lind; his daughters, Jessica (Matthew) and Amanda (Bryan); and five beloved grandchildren: Aiva (Jessica), Aiverie (Jessica), Siris (Amanda), David (Amanda), and Allison (Amanda). He is also remembered by extended family and a wide circle of friends who will miss his wit, strength, and constancy.
A celebration of James’s life is being planned, with details to be announced. In accordance with his wishes, his ashes will be spread in Los Alamos, New Mexico. For information, please reach out to Amanda or Jessica.
James may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. We will carry forward his stubborn strength, steady hands, and the quiet kindness he offered so freely. May those who knew him honor his memory by lending a hand, sharing a lesson, and standing by one another—just as he did.
