LANL Foundation: A Plan For The Children Of Northern New Mexico

Dearest community partners, educators, and LANL Foundation supporters,

Since our founding in 1997, the LANL Foundation has always believed that Northern New Mexico’s children and youth are bright, capable, and deserve the very best when it comes to education. Over the past nearly 30 years, our Foundation has grown and changed to meet the needs of our community. The present moment compels us to continue evolving to ensure that our children and young people, our families, and our educators can seize the opportunities and overcome the challenges of today’s world. 

I’m proud to introduce the LANL Foundation’s new Strategic Map, guided by one north star: that Northern New Mexico’s education system will serve those it has not equitably served before, so that they and their communities thrive.

This map will guide ambitious work focused on five core areas:

  •   Expanding Quality Childcare
  •   Championing Family Leadership 
  •   Elevating the Education Profession
  •   Investing in Middle Schools
  •   Advancing Work-Based Learning

Informed by community and driven by a need for fundamental change in our education system, this plan creates a path for Northern New Mexicans—from our youngest children to families and caregivers—to thrive.

In this Sunday’s Santa Fe New Mexican, I shared a heartfelt message with our children and youth about our Strategic Map, which I hope you will read here. 

Likewise, I encourage you to explore our new Strategic Map in detail, including the challenges we’re addressing and the data behind them.

Finally, I am excited to unveil the LANL Foundation’s new logo, a symbol of our growth and a reminder of whom we serve. This logo emphasizes our educational mission centered on our youth while honoring the legacy of our Foundation.

As always, I thank our partners, fellow organizations, educators, donors, and local, state, and tribal leaders who continue to join us in this essential work. But especially, I thank the students and families of Northern New Mexico for being the most essential partners in moving education forward in our state, and for entrusting us to be a part of your success. Together, we will ensure Northern New Mexico’s beauty, brilliance, and promise shine brightly for generations to come.
