The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is excited to announce Nature at Night: Summer Series coming soon, generously sponsored by Del Norte Credit Union. Formerly known as Summer Family Evenings, this program brings together collaborative partners from across north central New Mexico for hands-on, family-friendly nature experiences.
Programs take place from 4–6 p.m., Wednesday evenings in June and July, with featured presenters beginning at 5 p.m. Each event is free, open to all ages, and designed to spark curiosity, connection, and discovery.
June 2026 Program Lineup
- June 3 — Birds of Prey with the Santa Fe Raptor Center: Get eye-to-eye with live raptors and learn about the incredible adaptations of birds of prey. Families can enjoy hands-on activities and close-up encounters with these remarkable animals.
- June 10 — Robot Dog with the Los Alamos National Laboratory: See a real robot dog in action. LANL scientists will demonstrate cutting-edge robotics and guide families through interactive STEM activities that bring technology and nature together.
- June 17 — Bugs with the Santa Fe Reptile and Bug Museum: Meet fascinating insects and other creepy crawlers up close. This evening offers hands-on exploration and expert insights into the tiny creatures that shape our ecosystems.
- June 24 — Family Strengths Network: Enjoy an evening of creativity, connection, and family-centered activities with FSN. This program blends nature play, crafts, and community-building fun for all ages.
The new Nature at Night: Summer Series expands on a beloved local tradition by bringing in a wider range of partners, presenters, and interactive experiences. With support from Del Norte Credit Union, PEEC offers these programs free of charge, ensuring that families across the region can enjoy accessible, enriching nature experiences all summer long.

PEEC was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages a way to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains, and skies. PEEC operates the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road, holds regular programs and events, and hosts several interest groups, from birding to hiking to butterfly watching. PEEC activities are open to everyone; however, members receive exclusive benefits such as discounts on programs and gift shop merchandise. Annual memberships start at $35.
