PEEC NEWS RELEASE
The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC), in collaboration with Samizdat Bookstore & Teahouse, is pleased to welcome bestselling author Eileen Garvin for a special reading and discussion of her newest novel, Bumblebee Season, on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 6 to 7 PM MT at the Los Alamos Nature Center. Admission is free, and all are invited to attend.
Garvin’s latest novel returns to the vibrant world of small‑town beekeeping, weaving together themes of resilience, belonging, and the profound connections between people and the natural world. Bumblebee Season follows beekeeper Jake Stevenson as he navigates the challenges of running a growing honey farm from his wheelchair, the arrival of Flaco López, a young migrant lost on Mount Hood, and the determined scientist Abigail Plue, who is studying a threatened native bumblebee. As tensions rise in their community, the three must come together to protect the landscapes and relationships they cherish.
Copies of Bumblebee Season are available for purchase at Samizdat Bookstore & Teahouse beginning April 21, and at the event.
