LTE: Maggiore For Sheriff

BY KATRINA MARTIN
Former County Councilor
Los Alamos

The role of the Los Alamos County Sheriff, though limited in scope, represents the importance of law and justice in our community. Every elected office is an opportunity for us to choose someone who reflects our expectations for government officials. When I served on the County Council with Antonio Maggiore, he showed great integrity, transparency in decision making, and commitment to the people of Los Alamos. He wasn’t afraid to ask difficult questions, voice concerns, and speak up when an issue did not sit right with him. He isn’t interested in serving as sheriff for self-aggrandizing purposes; he truly wants to serve our county. These are the qualities I want to see in all government officials. In the past, we have had people who have not taken the role of sheriff seriously and have used the office to push their own agenda. The solution is to elect a candidate with integrity and a proven commitment to the public good. I trust Antonio Maggiore to serve as sheriff with honesty, diligence, and the best interests of Los Alamos at heart.
