Former Employee Files 54-Page Lawsuit Against Los Alamos Public Schools

Devin Ziegler, formerly employed by Los Alamos Public Schools as Assistant Coordinator of Student Services and former Special Education Inclusion Teacher, has filed a 54-page lawsuit against LAPS in First Judicial District Court. The lawsuit names Supt. Jennifer Guy, Kayoko Nettleton, Mayra Cameron and Karla Crane as well as the LAPS Board. It was filed by Albuquerque attorney Trent A. Howell and has been assigned to District Judge Anastasia Martin.

The complaint alleges violations of the Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Human Rights Act and the Whistleblower Protection Act. It alleges that Ziegler was harassed and retaliated against for for advocating IDEA compliance for students in 2024 and 2025; that LAPS retaliated against Ziegler’s complaints of personal harassment and retaliation in February and March 2025; also resisted accommodation of, discriminated, and retaliated against Ziegler based on disability in February through May 2025; demoted Ziegler in May 2025; and constructively discharged Ziegler from employment effective July 21, 2025.
