On Monday April 20th, 2025 Wheeed! will celebrate our 4th Birthday!! Wheeed would like to invite anyone aged 21+ to join us! It will be 8am-7pm at: 555 Oppenheimer Dr. Suite 100. We will have birthday presents, pastries and coffee from Wolf and Mermaid, enchiladas and tamales from El Parasol, plus huge discounts and giveaways!
As our birthday approaches we take this time to reflect on the year that has been. We snailed it again!
From April 1, 2025-March 31, 2026, Wheeed! sold $1,013,697.39 in total sales. This comprised more than 14,000 transactions, 44,000 items, and just under 3000 customers. This amount includes $384,919.14 in Discounts and $89,799.50 in Gross Receipts Tax and Excise Taxes, which equates to $182,642.15 in Medical Sales after discounts and $443,334.49 in Recreational Sales after discounts. Medical cannabis sales are not taxed, and we offer an additional 10% discount to all of our medical cannabis patients. We offer a 10% discount to Veterans, Police Officers, Fire Fighters, and those over 60. We also have 10% daily discounts. Wheeed! paid $190,909 in wages and $63,393 in payroll taxes during this time period. We work hard to pay living wages based upon the cost of living in Los Alamos. As of February 15, 2026 Los Alamos’ living wage is $25.29 (as calculated by MIT https://livingwage.mit.edu/counties/35028). Wheeed! employs 6 people, four full time and two part time. All but one employee live in Los Alamos county and 50% of our staff are Medical Cannabis Card holders. All of our employees (excluding the farm) have been here for more than 3 years. Each year Wheeed gives away a half of a percent (0.5%) of ownership to our employees. Currently the employees own under 1.5% of our company.
Additionally in 2025 Wheeed! partnered with a local farm Tumbleweed Farm (Ojo Caliente) and employed a farmer and a farm hand. Tumbleweed Farm grows cannabis in the ways that we want to support. Sun grown, organic, with a super sustainable approach. Tumbleweed has a micro-license meaning they can grow up to 200 plants, however they only grew 68 plants. This was due to the limitations of water collection. All of their plants are watered from 100% collected rainwater. All plants are completely sun grown, greenhouse and outdoor. All of their fertilizers are made from natural plants growing on the property (KNF based method). There are never any pesticides used, instead they rely on predatory insects like lady bugs, and praying mantis for pest control. All of our employees have toured and even worked on the farm. It is truly a magical and beautiful place, we are honored to be a part of it.
Wheeed’s support of the local economy extends up the supply chain as well, supporting more than 20 local farms and businesses in New Mexico. Most of these are ‘micro’ businesses or farms with 200 or fewer plants and typically owned and operated by just two people. Additionally, Wheeed! Supports over a dozen non-cannabis establishments: local restaurants, small businesses and vendors within Los Alamos and Northern New Mexico.
Despite the recent push to reschedule cannabis on the federal level, it still remains a schedule 1 drug. Because of this, cannabis is one of the highest taxed industries in the country. Tax Law 280E puts a tremendous tax burden on cannabis businesses. Since cannabis still remains federally illegal, this law disallows normal business tax deductions. Wheeed! paid approximately $223,891 in total taxes including: $63,393 in payroll taxes $89,800 in Cannabis Excise Taxes and Gross Revenue Taxes comprising:
$1,625.71 in Gross Revenue Taxes on Non-Cannabis Items (Local Sales Tax 7.0625%)
$33,994.08 in Gross Revenue Taxes on Cannabis (Local Sales Tax 7.0625%)
$54,376.15 in Recreational Cannabis Excise Tax (State Tax 13%) &
$60,000 in Estimated Federal Income Taxes, and approximately
$11,000 in Estimated New Mexico State Income Taxes.
Each and every month Wheeed! donates 1% of our gross sales (not including tax) to local non- profits. Our total donations exceeded $6,259. This year we doubled up our donations, often giving two months at a time.

Wheeed held multiple sales days and events (almost all of the holidays you can think of plus a couple of Friday the 13ths) with huge discounts, massive giveaways, door prizes and gifts. We gave approximately $7,000+ worth of (non-cannabis) products and accessories. Wheeed! again Sponsored the Los Alamos Summer Concert Series in 2025 at Ashley Pond: June 13, 2025 – Night Moves and the 4th of July and drone show- featuring: Fortunate Sons; We are also a sponsor for the 2026 Los Alamos Summer Concert Series.
Long story short, we are certainly not getting rich. We are able to live here, pay our bills, and positively contribute to our community. We believe that this is a huge success for any small business, especially in Los Alamos
