The theme for the afternoon is the “Grand Ole Opry,” with a picnic-style lunch following the initiation. A reception following the close of the meeting will honor local state officers Dan Sutcliffe, Associate Grand Patron, Angela Keiter, Associate Grand Conductress, and General Grand Chapter Committee Member Larry Holmes.

All attending are encouraged to wear attire appropriate to those attending or performing at the “Grand Ole Opry.”

The Order of Eastern Star is the largest fraternal service organization worldwide that is open to both men and women. Los Alamos Chapter was founded in 1947; the Order itself, however, is much older, beginning in 1873. There are approximately 10,000 chapters in 20 countries with about 220,000 members.

This is a woman-led organization with Worthy Grand Matron Cavell Miller the head officer for the state of New Mexico for 2025-2026. She has been a member of the Order for 28 years and is a member of the Rio Rancho, Albuquerque and Los Alamos Chapters. She works for the largest non-profit ballooning event in the world, “Balloon Fiesta” in Albuquerque. Her counterpart, Worthy Grand Patron Jay Miller, has been a member of the Order for 20 years, he also is a member of the Rio Rancho, Albuquerque and Los Alamos Chapters. He has retired from Intel but continues to work, now for the State of New Mexico.

Leading the local Los Alamos Chapter this year are Kelly Raye Williams, Worthy Matron, and Dan Sutcliffe, Worthy Patron.

Please contact the chapter secretary at la63secretary@gmail.com if you plan to attend the lunch ($15/per person), so there will be enough food for all.
