Join PEEC May 5 For Climate Café ‘Forest Bathing’

PEEC NEWS RELEASE

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) invites the community to Climate Café: Forest Bathing from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. MT, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Los Alamos Nature Center. This free, facilitator‐guided gathering is part of PEEC’s bi‐monthly Climate Café series, which will continue again in July.

Climate Café is a welcoming space designed to help people reflect on their emotional responses to a changing climate. May’s gathering will feature a gentle forest bathing experience led by Beth Sanchez, certified guide and PEEC staff member. Participants will be invited to slow down, step outdoors, and engage their senses as they explore how mindful time in nature can support emotional resilience.

Spending quiet, intentional time in natural spaces can help ease climate grief by creating room to process difficult emotions, reducing stress and rumination, and fostering a deeper sense of connection with the living world. Through shared conversation, reflection, and time on the land, this program offers a supportive environment for navigating the emotional landscape of the climate crisis.

Light refreshments, coffee, and tea will be available. Preregistration is encouraged, and drop‐ins are welcome.

Admission: Free

Everyone is invited to participate in whatever way feels comfortable. Because conversations may include emotionally complex topics, this program may not be appropriate for children under 16.

PEEC’s Climate Café series meets every other month, offering ongoing opportunities for community members to gather, reflect, and support one another. The next Climate Café will take place in July.
