N3B NEWS RELEASE
Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B) contributed more than $300,000 to Northern New Mexico community organizations and workforce development programs in 2025, according to its newly released 2025 Community Commitment Annual Report.
The $333,000 in funding reflects N3B’s pledge to donate a portion of its award fee earned over the duration of the Los Alamos National Laboratory legacy cleanup contract. Award fee is compensation N3B can earn under its contract based on the contractor’s performance against various evaluation criteria. Since the contract began in 2018, N3B has provided $2,993,000 to regional nonprofits, educational initiatives and workforce programs.
“At N3B, we want to serve as a good corporate citizen in northern New Mexico. Our Community Commitment program is one of the most meaningful ways we support the people and organizations here,” N3B President Brad Smith said. “We are proud to invest in programs that expand educational opportunities, strengthen essential services and help build the next generation of the workforce while our employees give thousands of hours of their time to the community.”
N3B Community Commitment funds support organizations and initiatives across four key areas:
• Education and STEM
• Health and human services
• Arts and culture
• Civic and community programs
Grant funding reached organizations throughout Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Santa Fe, Taos and Bernalillo counties, supporting activities ranging from STEM festivals and tutoring programs to food assistance, youth mentorship and environmental education. Matching funds in 2025 also helped raise more than $75,000 with the Cancer Foundation for New Mexico to assist patients with access to care.
In addition to financial contributions, N3B employees and their families volunteered more than 4,100 hours in 2025 with dozens of regional organizations, supporting schools, food banks, veteran groups, youth programs and community events.
The 2025 Community Commitment Annual Report highlights funded organizations, workforce development partnerships and volunteer activities that improve quality of life across Northern New Mexico.
